Restorative Somatics

A four-week virtual series to support your body to
slow down, soften, and regain connection.

The May series will be rescheduled- Join the waitlist below to find out when the next session will happen!

Each class will include somatic practice, gentle movement, self massage and guided relaxation to help ease tension, support regulation, and build a more compassionate relationship with your body over time.

You’ll learn things, yes, but just as importantly,
you’ll be supported to drop into a deeply regulated space where you can rest and recover.

Gently guided support that is grounded in how the nervous system actually works.

Student reviews

I signed up for Annie’s class to learn more about how to manage tight muscles on my own, in between sessions with my massage therapist. I was happy to learn some very easy techniques to work on some of my more tender areas. Each class focused on a different area of the body. I was surprised at how easy it was to work the things I learned into my daily life. After taking the classes I feel like I have another useful tool to help in my self care routine.

If something like this sounds intriguing to you, I highly recommend going for it. During a particularly depleting week, my regular yoga class was cancelled, and it felt meant to be that I hadn't yet gotten to do the recording from the final class. I used it that day, and it was just what the doctor ordered. I was reminded of how nurturing the space is that Annie holds for her students. For me it was an act of healing just to carve out the time for something like this - and Annie makes it really special.

Each session is guided and intentional.

Each class starts with somatic practices to support arriving and settling into shared space, with special consideration for connecting well in a virtual learning environment.

We start by connecting through gentle movement, processing anxiety and activation with intentional breathing and stretching.

This is followed with guided self-massage sequences that offer room to pause, adjust, or simply rest when needed. I’ll offer context where it’s helpful, but the focus is on your experience. This part of the class will happen seated or lying down and will often require the use of massage balls.

Class will end with a guided rest that uses active imagination and gentle visualization to support deep relaxation for your whole system.

You can join from your own space, in your comfy clothes and you’re always invited to move at your own pace, making any modifications that support you.

  1. ~ Live with chronic pain or persistent tension
~ Feel burnt out, overwhelmed, or wired in a way that’s hard to settle
~ Want a way to care for your body that isn’t forceful or overwhelming
~ Need structured support that also feels spacious

You don’t need experience with massage or yoga.
Just a willingness to show up as you are.

Many people find that by the end of class, their body feels softer and their mind has quieted.

This might be a good fit if you:

  • A small amount of oil or moisturizer.

  • Comfortable clothing.

  • A space where you can lie down and move a little.

  • Massage balls- A set of small rubber balls in a tote, and an abdominal massage ball. These are my favourites!

A note about the space.

You’re encouraged to keep your camera on, but there’s flexibility.

Some people prefer to have it angled away or softened, that’s completely okay!

It simply helps the space feel more human, and a little less like speaking into the void.

Hi, I’m Annie and I’m your guide for the series.

I’m a Trauma-Informed Somatic Practitioner and Registered Massage Therapist.

My approach to massage therapy, mentorship and teaching is informed by my 25+ years of training and work in manual therapy, community mental health, trauma theory, meditation, yoga and somatics.

I guided my first yoga session in 1999 and have been offering classes, workshops and retreats, both online and in person ever since.

It takes resilience to be here. The wear and tear is real. The reasons to check out, reasonable and plenty.

Exhaustion is normal. All of us are living in an unjust system that asks us to bypass our physical and emotional needs, disconnecting us from our bodies.

Somatics can help us reclaim the experience of feeling reliably well-met, relatively safe and capable of engaging with life meaningfully.
